Sturges Awarded U.S. Patent #7,815,013 for Energy Absorber for a Personal Fall Arrestor

Sturges’ unique design incorporates a series of interior and exterior high tenacity polyester binder yarns that tear out in a controlled manner to dissipate the energy created as a result of an unintended fall from height.  Further, coatings are added to certain yarns within the design to reduce yarn on yarn abrasion common to challenging environmental conditions.  These situations include temperatures as low as -400C, elevated temperatures and conditions where the energy absorber has been soaked in water for eight hours.
The design is the result of literally thousands of drop tests to various industry standards including ANSI, CSA, and EN.  “Having a drop tower on site is a tremendous asset to both the product design process and the validation of the performance of regular production tear webbing.  We test virtually every day.” reports Tyler Griffith, Vice President of Sales.
The Sturges test lab in currently in the process of registration to ISO 17025.
