1) What testing equipment do you have at your disposal?

At Sturges, we primarily perform break testing up to 33,000 lbs to validate an initial design and to verify materials (webbing, stitching, and hardware) will perform as expected.   Our standard policy is to check for an average break to be at least three standard deviations above the stated minimum.

Additionally, we perform specific tests as required by the customer's needs - an example would be stretch or burn rate. We also have established relationships with a number of outside labs if more particular testing is required.

If you have other questions, we would be pleased to answer them for you.  Contact us.

2) What is your production capacity?

This of course is highly dependent on what we are making.  We have made over 200,000 yards of webbing per week and 50,000 straps per week.  We will gladly commit to a specific production rate during the design phase of the product.

3) Do you accept blanket orders and stocking programs?

We welcome both. This is a great way for the customer to take advantage of cost effective longer webbing runs and yet still not be overburdened with excessive inventory. This is part of the contract review process and is tailored to each customer’s needs.

4) What is your minimum order and production time?

Our minimum order requirements are as follows:

  • Finished straps or strap assemblies: 500 pieces or $500.
  • Stock bulk webbing: $500
  • Webbing made to customer specifications:  Generally, 5,000 yards. Lesser amounts are allowable
for webbings from Kevlar®, Nomex® and other specialty yarns depending on construction.
  • Production time normally starts 3-4 weeks after samples and drawings are approved.  This may be subject to the
availability of material, and will be stated specifically in the quotation.
  • Feel free to contact us by phone, fax, or email for more specific information.

5) Do you ship internationally?

We embrace the concept of a global economy and welcome the opportunity to add another country to our list.  We regularly ship to customers in Europe, Asia, and Oceania in addition to our close neighbors in Canada.

6) How do you handle customer feedback and complaints?

Any feedback we receive (whether it is a formal complaint or simply a suggestion on how to better service our customers) is brought before our Quality Council for discussion & disposition. We take great pride in our ability to address and solve problems both quickly and efficiently, striving for total customer satisfaction. Further, we look at this as an opportunity to identify the root cause of a problem and to implement corrective action to prevent any reoccurrence.

7) What is your cancellation and return policy?

Orders that are cancelled are subject to manufacturing and material costs incurred to date. It is best to contact us ahead of time to confirm what charges, if any, will be incurred as a result of canceling a particular order.

Returns are accepted on standard webbings and hardware - however, it must be deemed reusable before any credit is issued. (Original shipping charges and any shipping costs incurred to return the items are the responsibility of the customer.)

Please call for a Return Authorization Number prior to returning any goods.

8) What is your warranty policy?

It is the responsibility of the end user, purchaser or other intermediate seller to determine the purposes for which the product is fit and suitable, the properties of the product and any precautionary measures which must be taken in order to insure the safety of the user and third persons and property. It shall be the end user's and purchaser’s obligation to determine the ultimate suitability of the product for any intended use, and the purchaser and end user assume all risk and liability whatsoever in connection therewith.

Sturges makes no warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability and fitness except as provided by Sturges in writing and designated as a "WARRANTY". Sturges' sole obligation in the event of defective goods sold by Sturges shall be to replace such quantities of the goods as are proven to the satisfaction of Sturges to be defective or to not meet the specifications required or offered.

9) Do you have a catalog or a stock product line with price sheet available?

Our strength lies in the custom manufacturing of webbing and finished straps. We provide a number of "stock products" and bulk webbing to various industries, but do not have a "full product line". The majority of orders manufactured here are done on a per-order basis, resulting in individualized attention to each customer's specific needs. The literature we have available simply provides information about our company, our capabilities and different applications of the products we manufacture.  If you'd like to request a catalog, please e-mail us with your address.
